Q. Tips for logging into e-resources

The Library subscribes to many e-resources, from e-books to journals to market research databases. If you are taken to an external site and need to log in you should look for one of the following:

• Institutional login
• Academic login
• Shibboleth login

You can also go to databases via the Databases A-Z button on our homepage library.sunderland.ac.uk. When you access databases this way, you will automatically be redirected to log in using your University user ID and password.


Example 1 - dawsonera e-books

If you are asked to log into dawsonera directly, you should click 'Sign in' then choose 'Shibboleth login':

Look for the University of Sunderland in the list of all institutions:

Log in with your University user ID and password.


Example 2 - ScienceDirect database

On ScienceDirect, you should expand the 'Sign in' link and choose 'Other institution login':

Search for the University of Sunderland and click 'Login':

Log in with your University user ID and password.


Example 3 - Taylor & Francis database

On Taylor & Francis, you should click 'Sign in' and choose 'Sign in via Shibboleth':

Search or browse for the University of Sunderland:

Log in with your University user ID and password.


Example 4 - Box of Broadcasts

On the Box of Broadcasts homepage, click 'Sign In':

Type 'University of Sunderland' into the search box, select the result, then click 'GO':

Log in with your University user ID and password.


Example 5 - Cite Them Right

On the Cite Them Right homepage, click 'Login':

Select the University of Sunderland in the organizations list then log in with your University user ID and password.


Example 6 - IEEE Xplore Journals

On the IEEE homepage, click 'Institutional Sign In':

Click 'Shibboleth' then find the University of Sunderland from the list of institutions:

Log in with your University user ID and password.
