We subscribe to a legal database called Westlaw, from Thomson Reuters. To access this resource, you will need to go via Library Search and log in with your University  user ID and password every time. More information on which legal databases we subscribe to, and how and when to use them, can be found in this guide.

Creating a OnePass account

The first time you access Westlaw, you will need to create a OnePass account after you have logged in with your University user ID and password.

Use your first name and surname, as registered with the University, and your University email address when you create your OnePass account.

You only need to create the OnePass one time. You do not need a registration key to create a OnePass account.

If you see a 'registration key' error message when you try to log in or create a OnePass account

1) Make sure you are accessing Westlaw via Library Search Library Search.

2) Try using a different web browser or clearing your cache in your current browser

3) If you still receive the error message, please email us at library@sunderland.ac.uk with the following details:

• First name, surname, and email address you are using for your OnePass account.
• A screenshot of the error message, including the URL address bar.
• The internet browser you are using.
• Whether you are on-campus or off-campus.
• Whether you have accessed Westlaw before in or if you are a first time user.
