Exciting news! Library at Murray is set to reopen to students and staff on Tuesday 10 March at 10am, after an incredible transformation. We have invested £2.4 million into an extensive refurbishment and reimagining of the space.
Over the past six months, we have completely replaced the heating and lighting systems, enhanced the WiFi connectivity across the floor, and installed a brand-new ceiling with acoustic baffles to keep your study environment peaceful and focused.
In this brighter and warmer space, you will find:
• Individual desks with views overlooking University Park.
• Power outlets at most desks to keep your devices charged.
• Spacious study pods perfect for group sessions, complete with built-in whiteboards.
• Individual study pods for solo study.
• Unique ‘honeycomb’ study booths for privacy.
• More height-adjustable desks to suit your comfort.
• Comfortable enclosed soft seating with power outlets.
• More desk space in our Silent Study Room for maximum focus.
• A brand-new helpdesk with welcoming soft seating nearby.
We have designed Library at Murray based on extensive student feedback. Our annual Big Talk to the Library survey and collaborative user experience workshops with student representatives have directly shaped these exciting new features.
“Wow, what an amazing space!” (Student feedback from one of the ‘sneak peek’ tours)
We cannot wait for you to experience the newly co-designed Library at Murray. Thank you for your patience during this transformative project, and a huge shoutout to our dedicated colleagues in Estates & Facilities for making this possible. We look forward to welcoming you to the new Library at Murray!
