The way you log in to Library resources has changed. You will continue to have access to content included in the Library's subscription, but some providers may not recognise some personal settings or saved content.
Will I still be able to access EBSCO platforms?
Yes. Your access to EBSCO platforms is provided through the Library's subscription when you sign in using your University of Sunderland credentials. This change applies to Art Full Text, International Bibliography of Theater & Dance, CINAHL Ultimate, Business Source Ultimate, SocINDEX, SPORTDiscus, MEDLINE hosted by EBSCO, Education Research Complete, Hospitality & Tourism Complete, and GOBI ebooks.
Can I merge my previous MyEBSCO account into my new one?
No. EBSCO does not allow this. You will see a prompt to create a brand new MyEBSCO account and folder linked to your University of Sunderland credentials.

Please create a new MyEBSCO account, even if you have created one before. Because of the change to how you log in, EBSCO will treat you as a new user. Do not try to sign in with your previous details. Once you have done this, your MyEBSCO folder dashboard will be empty. You will need to download your saved work from your old MyEBSCO account and manually save it to your new one using the steps below.
What should I do to save my personalised content?
We are temporarily offering the option to log in via both the 'New Library Authentication Service' and the 'Old Library Authentication Service'.

You should be able to access your saved content by choosing the 'Old Library Authentication Service' option and using your University user ID and password.
If you are not seeing the above options, your browser cookies will have stored the last login method you used. You will need to sign out completely, clear your browser cache and cookies, then close and reopen your browser. Start again from Databases A-Z where possible, rather than from a saved bookmark or link. You can also use an incognito or private browser window to access the databases using the old authentication service, if you would prefer not to clear cache and cookies.
1. If you set up a MyEBSCO account, sign in now. If you have forgotten your password, reset it to access your saved content.
2. Click on 'My Dashboard', and then 'Saved' on the left menu.

3. Make sure you have checked the 'Select All' box at the top of your list. (You can also use the drop-down menu to change the number of results you wish to export from 50 to 500.)

4. Click the 'Export' icon. You will see different options, including PDF, Word, or CSV files. Click 'Download' to save your downloaded list in your preferred format.
What if I have thousands of saved articles?
If your list is too big for a normal download, use the 'Bulk Export' tool:
1. Click the 'Share' icon.
2. Select 'Export results (Up to 25,000)' and type in your email address.
3. EBSCO will email you a download link with all your article data within a few minutes.
How do I save my exact search strings?
Search histories cannot be downloaded as a file, so you have to copy them manually:
1. Go to your search dashboard, click on save and then click on the Searches tab.

2. Click on the search title, and this opens up to show your search terms.
3. Copy your exact search text (including any AND, OR, or field codes).
4. Paste them into a Word document or Notepad.
Will my Search and Journal Alerts transfer automatically?
No. Alerts are tied strictly to your old MyEBSCO account profile. Take a screenshot or write down your current alerts in your old MyEBSCO account.

What about GOBI ebooks records I have saved?
If you have saved details of ebooks, these will appear in ‘Saved’ under the records tab.

Follow the same steps as for saved articles; check the select all box and then click either the download or share option. If you want to export citation details of books and articles, check select all, then click the share button to export into your chosen Reference Management software.
What should I do next?
1. Log out of EBSCO and clear your browser cookies and cache.
2. Access an EBSCO platform. Log in using the 'New Library Authentication Service'. Your username will be userID@student.sunderland.ac.uk (for students) or userID@sunderland.ac.uk (for staff).
3. Log in to your new MyEBSCO account and recreate your saved content from your backup:
• Copy the article titles or DOIs, search for them in your new MyEBSCO account, and click the 'Bookmark (Save)' icon to rebuild your folders.
• For search strings, paste the strings from your backup into the search bar, run the search, and click 'Save Search'.
• For alerts, run your search (or find the journal), click the three vertical dots next to the search options, and select 'Create alert' to set them up again.
We hope the instructions above are helpful, but please note that we cannot guarantee they will work in every case. They have been prepared to the best of our knowledge, using the information available to us. You should back up, save, or export any personal content wherever possible, in case it needs to be recreated.
