The way you log in to Library resources has changed. You will continue to have access to content included in the Library's subscription, but some providers may not recognise some personal settings or saved content.

Will I still be able to access BoB?

Yes. Your access to BoB is provided through the Library's subscription when you sign in using your University of Sunderland credentials.

Will I lose my personalised content, such as watchlists?

This cannot be confirmed, so we recommend backing up your saved content now using the steps below.

What should I do to save my personalised content?

We are temporarily offering the option to log in via both the 'New Library Authentication Service' and the 'Old Library Authentication Service'.

You should be able to access your saved content by choosing the 'Old Library Authentication Service' option and using your University user ID and password.

If you are not seeing the above options, your browser cookies will have stored the last login method you used. You will need to sign out completely, clear your browser cache and cookies, then close and reopen your browser. Start again from Databases A-Z where possible, rather than from a saved bookmark or link. You can also use an incognito or private browser window to access the databases using the old authentication service, if you would prefer not to clear cache and cookies.

1. Sign in to BoB now and check that My BoB opens correctly. This is where BoB stores saved/requested content, playlists and clips.
2. Make a note of the email address on your BoB account. BoB uses that email during account setup and verification.
3. Keep a backup record of anything important in My BoB. Open key playlists to copy their shareable links or take screenshots, and note any important watch lists, requested programmes, clips you created, and descriptions or contextual notes you may need to recreate later.

What should I do next?

1. Log out of BoB and clear your browser cookies and cache.
2. Access BoB through Databases A-Z. Log in using the 'New Library Authentication Service'. Your username will be userID@student.sunderland.ac.uk (for students) or userID@sunderland.ac.uk (for staff).
3. If you have a My BoB account, sign in with the same email and password as before, then check your saved playlists, watch lists, requested programmes and clips.
4. If BoB asks you to complete account setup again, use the same email address as before and complete any verification email steps BoB sends you. You may need to check your junk or spam folders.
5. If saved items are missing, you can recreate them from your backup.

We cannot guarantee that all personal items will reconnect automatically, and if your old and new sign-ins do not match, My BoB may look incomplete or older items may not work until the account is migrated or reconnected. If this happens to you, contact us and include the following information, which we will need to supply to BoB Technical Support:

- Your email address used for BoB.
- What is missing (for example, a playlist, watch list or clips).
- Whether you can still see the old item, but not open it.
- Any other issues with accessing your My Bob account and content.

We hope the instructions above are helpful, but please note that we cannot guarantee they will work in every case. They have been prepared to the best of our knowledge, using the information available to us. You should back up, save, or export any personal content wherever possible, in case it needs to be recreated.
