What is changing?

On 7 July 2026, the University is making a technical update to the way your sign-in works behind the scenes. You will still log in using your University of Sunderland credentials, and you will still have access to content included in the Library's subscription, but Wiley may not immediately recognise some personal settings.

Will I lose my saved searches, favourites, or alerts?

We do not expect you to lose personal content, but Wiley has not yet confirmed whether saved features will carry over automatically when the background sign-in identifier changes. Please back up any important searches or other saved content in case you need to recreate them.

Will my access to articles be interrupted?

Yes, temporarily. Wiley uses a 60-day token to link your personal profile to the University’s institutional subscriptions. Because of the technical update, your current token will break, and you will temporarily face paywalls when trying to download full-text PDFs.

How do I restore my full-text access?

1. Log out of Wiley Online Library and clear your browser cookies and cache.
2. Go to Wiley, click Login/Register, select Institutional Login, and log in with your University details.
3. Once you see the banner at the top of the page saying "Access provided by: University of Sunderland", log in to your Personal Profile from that same browser window. This pairs your personal profile and grants you a new 60-day token.

We hope the instructions above are helpful, but please note that we cannot guarantee they will work in every case. They have been prepared to the best of our knowledge, using the information available to us. Before the technical change is made, you should back up, save, or export any personal content wherever possible, in case it needs to be recreated.
