Answer

Start at our homepage. Type your search terms into the Library Search box and then click the search button:

You will then be taken to a results page for the search terms used, for all types of material. To narrow your results to articles only, use the filters on the left and click 'Articles' under Resource Type. If you want to select more than one filter, click the checkbox on the left of the individual filters then click the apply filters button.

Once you have found the article you want to read, click on the title:

1) Citation information: Use this information when referencing the article. See Cite Them Right for help on referencing.

2) Information icons: The PEER REVIEWED icon indicates that the article has undergone the peer-review process where it has been “evaluated by a group of experts in the appropriate field”. The OPEN ACCESS icon indicates that the article has been distributed online, free of access charges.

3) Full-text links: You may find direct links at the top of the record or further down under 'View Online - Full text availability', which provides further information on the journal or database the article was published in or made available through.

4) Actions: E-mail, print, and save citation information or item record information.

5) Details: Further details on the article such as a full list of authors with links to search for works published by each author, the journal in which the article was published, and more.

Searching more widely

By default, Library Search will show you materials in our subscriptions to which you should have direct access. To search more widely, toggle 'Expand results beyond Library Collections' on. Your search results will now show results from both our subscriptions and outside our subscriptions. For anything outside our collections, there will not be a 'View online' option; instead, there will be a 'How to get it' option where you will be prompted to request the material through our interlibrary loan service.
