Answer

Our spaces in Sunderland are open to our guest community during our staffed helpdesk hours. Guests can use the study spaces in Library at Murray and St Peter's Library, refer to our print collections, and connect their own devices to our WiFi networks. We can only admit guests who are over the age of eighteen.

We welcome a range of guests, including:

• Students, researchers, and staff from other UK higher education institutions who have joined the SCONUL Access scheme.
• University of Sunderland graduates who have joined the University's Alumni Association.
• Members of staff who have now retired and those granted Emeritus Professor status.
• Members of Sunderland City Libraries, Sunderland Colleges, Sunderland City Hospital, and Sunderland Law Society.
• Visiting professors and researchers actively working with the University of Sunderland.

Guests are not eligible to borrow laptops, place interlibrary loan requests, reserve items, or use our PCs or printers.

To make your visit smoother and quicker, you can choose to purchase a guest card for £4. This card allows you to tap through the access gates instead of having a team member sign you in and out. Guest access, whether by signing in or using a guest card, is only available during our staffed helpdesk hours. If your guest type is eligible for borrowing rights, you can use this card on our self-service units.

Information on purchasing a guest card is included in your welcome pack.
