Yes. You can read some ebooks on a mobile phone, depending on the provider. For the best functionality, we suggest using a laptop or PC where possible.
VLeBooks
The VLeBooks App is available free of charge. Once installed on a mobile device, it will enable a downloaded ebook to be read with all the advanced functionality you would expect of a modern ereader app. The app requires at least iOS 15, Android 13, Windows 10, or macOS 10.15.
ProQuest Ebook Central
The Ebook Central Reader App is a dedicated mobile and desktop app designed for reading downloaded ebooks from the Ebook Central platform. The app supports EPUB and PDF formats, allows users to manage their loans and maximise functionality without taking up significant space. Some features, such as copy allowances, may require an internet connection to sync with DRM settings. The app requires at least iOS 14, Android 13, Windows 10, or macOS 10.15.
If a book is not available for download or you do not want to download it, you can still use the online reader on your mobile phone. Any chapters you download are still delivered as PDFs, which you can open in any PDF-compatible reader. The Ebook Central Reader App is only required when you want to download an entire book.
EBSCO eBooks
The EBSCO Mobile App is available for iOS and Android devices from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app requires at least iOS 13+ or Android 9+. For more information on using the EBSCO Mobile App, please see their installation and authentication FAQs.
If you want to download full EBSCO ebooks for offline reading, you will need to download Thorium Reader. Thorium Reader is currently available for desktop computers and iOS devices; an Android version is in development.
